Join us for a magical weekend of kayaking events for all abilities on the magnificent Wild Atlantic Way
The inaugural Schull Blueway Kayaking Festival takes place on the weekend of 8-10 July 2016 in the village of Schull, West Cork, Ireland, along the Wild Atlantic Way. The festival offers a combination of an adventure kayaking challenge for experienced kayakers, taster sessions for beginners and children, and a family island kayak trip and BBQ. And of course there is the village of Schull itself and the Mizen peninsula, with all its wonderful shops, eateries and music, plenty to entertain all throughout the weekend.
The Carbery Island Challenge, taking place on Saturday 9th July 2016, is our showcase event for experienced kayakers, and is a unique 4 hour sea kayaking adventure challenge, testing your navigational skills, sea kayaking skills and seamanship, in the beautiful surrounds of Schull Harbour, Roaringwater Bay, the Carbery Hundred Isles, and the rugged West Cork coastline, set along the Wild Atlantic Way. Check out the event page for more details.
On Sunday the outing will be a paddle to nearby Long Island, offering short and medium distances for families, and an around island paddle for experience kayakers. There will also be a ferry service for non-kayakers. Once on the island there will be a delicious BBQ facilitated by Fingal Ferguson of the internationally renowned Gubbeen Farmhouse products, an opportunity to explore the new Long Island trail and a fun treasure hunt for all. Check out the event page for more details.
